Chemical Dependency

Alcohol and other drugs of abuse and dependency can have tragic effects on the health of the user, the well being of their family and the overall safety of society.  Yet, many people continue to use despite negative consequences.  Why?  Because they have unintentionally become addicted.

Others, unfortumately, do not know the risks involved in addiction.  Perhaps they are unaware of the signs of abuse leading to dependency, or that substance abuse is hereditary.  Many people do not know that alcohol is a drug and can lead to addiction.  For young people,  abuse or dependency of alcohol and/or other drugs can be the result of peer pressure or experimentation.

Once dependence on alcohol and/or other drugs happens, continued use occurs in order to ward off the ill effects of physical and psychological addiction.  Chemical dependency is NOT caused by a lack of willpower, however it is a treatable disease.  Do not succumb to old, societal standards or other inaccurate information about what it means to have an addiction.  As a Certified Advanced Addictions Counselor, the professional guidance I provide will help you relearn how to live without mood-altering drugs in your life.  Get the facts.  Click on this link to learn more about the signs of chemical abuse and dependency.  Then, come in to my office and learn the right ways to deal with this disease.
