Depression comes in different degrees and can be difficult for the sufferer to recognize. If you feel tired, sad, lack ambition, have sleep problems, a loss of interest in pleasurable activities, a change in appetitie or feel suicidal, you could have clinical depression.
Mania, another form of depression, can result in irriability, elation, grandiose thoughts, poor judgement, decreased need for sleep and a high level of arousal.
As a therapist, I will determine the best course of treatment to help you to recover and stay well.
Anxiety can also range from mild to severe and occur in different context, such as social anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder. Anxiety is experienced as feelings of fear or apprenhension. The cause of the anxiety may or may not be known to the affected individual. Regardless of the type, anxiety disorders are treatable. I wll help you understand your symptoms and how best to treat them.
Depression and anxiety disorders cross all social and economic lines and can affect young and old alike. Left untreated, these disorders can lead to profound feelings of hopelessness and despair, inhibition, an inability to function effectively and even suicide. If you think depression or anxiety interfere with your happiness or peace of mind, come in and find out what can be done to create positive changes in your life. Depression and/or anxiety do not have to prevent you from leading an active life.
