I provide confidential counseling for individuals, couples and families.  Upon our initial meeting, I will evaluate the circumstances that necessitated therapy and provide you with a diagnostic explanation of your symptoms.  Next, I will recommend a course of treatment to address your symptoms which takes into consideration your stated goal for therapy.  If you require medical treatment along with therapy, I will provide a referral for you and work in conjunction with that provider to help ensure that your overall needs are met.  Your appointment will be scheduled as quickly and conveniently for you as possible.  

I am a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, and have found this modality of couple's therapy to be the most effective I have ever used.  When you initially begin couple's counseling, I will gather a summary of your relationship history, the conflict you are experiencing within the relationship and your expressed goals for therapy.  Then, I will provide an explanation of how Imago Relationship Therapy works, and demonstrate the healing and compassionate art of communication using Imago techniques.  You may learn more about Imago Relationship Therapy prior to therapy by obtaining the book Getting the Love You Want at your local bookstore or library.  You may also click on the link for the Imago Relationship Therapy website.

When providing family therapy, I prefer to meet first with both parents to assess the nature and length of the problems that brought their family into counseling.  Children are given the option of meeting with me separately, but are not required to until they are uncomfortable with a new therapist.  Children are accorded the same rights to confidentiality as their parents, as well as the same limitations to privacy under HIPPA regulations.  However, if children initially request separate services, every effort is made to unite the family in session as soon as possible.  In the interim, parents are counseled about parenting skills, coping with frustrations and any other personal issues which impact their parenting skills.
